Department: Construction Design
Time at Mariani: 11 months
Describe your job: I work with Sara Furlan and Ron O’Hara on putting designs together – from site surveys to initial schematic designs to construction documents.
Favorite thing about your job: The people I work with.
Favorite thing to do away from your job: I really enjoy birdwatching at various spots in Chicago.
Favorite memory here: The various potlucks/cooking competitions we’ve had here, from Pie Day to the Soup-er Bowl, have been some of my favorite memories.
What inspired you to become a Landscape Architect? I was inspired to become a Landscape Architect by the book Devil in the White City, which partially describes Frederick Law Olmsted’s design and vision for the Chicago 1893 World Fair.
Advice you would give to someone pursuing landscape architecture: Try to spend at least as much time outside in various landscapes as you do in front of a computer.
Final thought: I love the extremely smart and creative female leaders at Mariani that I continue to learn from every day.
